Ford’s impressive new Mustang Mach-E is kicking sand in the face of range anxiety by demonstrating that it can reach the beach from any European capital on one single charge.
The Mach-E, which entered the Guinness Book of World Records for an ultra-efficient drive from John O’Groats to Land’s End, is now putting sunshine resorts on its list of destinations.
More people than ever are purchasing electric vehicles, with sales up by 50 per cent in 2021, and Ford aim to prove that range anxiety no longer needs to be an issue. The Mach-E completed the longest journey with less than 45 minutes of charging to break the record, stopping twice in Wigan and Devon to recharge on its journey from north to south.
Now Ford have claimed that drivers can drive the Mach-E from any European capital and arrive at a beach on just one charge. Even landlocked Prague can reach a beach 586 kilometres away in Poland on a single charge, while Budapest, Bern and Vienna can also pack the bucket and spade as they are achievable. Capitals such as Rome, London and Dublin all make short work of the challenge, having beaches less than 100 kilometres away.
“After such a tough 2020 many of us will be excited to get out and explore Europe this summer, and the Mustang Mach-E is the perfect vehicle to do that with,” said Roelant de Waard, general manager, Passenger Vehicles, Ford of Europe. “The impressive driving range helps continue the Mustang’s long association of road trips and freedom, while adding the extrabenefit of zero emission driving.”
And for those worried about soggy towels, the Mach-E comes complete with a ‘frunk’, a drainable luggage compartment under the bonnet.
